Wings to Dreams
“Wings to Dreams” is a captivating public art installation located between the Erie Community Center and Erie Library in Erie, Colorado. Sculptural Artist Dixie Friend Gay brings together three stainless steel sculptures enhanced with programmable LED lighting, creating an immersive visual experience that evolves from day to night.
Fabricated by Junoworks and commissioned by the City of Erie, the installation reflects a deeper narrative rooted in human aspiration and the natural environment. Inspired by Erie’s native fauna and ecological history, the sculptural forms evoke a connection between past and present, blending organic symbolism with contemporary design.
Through intricate textures and symbolic imagery such as antlers and horns, the work invites viewers to reflect on themes of growth, power, and transformation. The trio of sculptures acts as a visual “portal,” encouraging imagination and a sense of connection to something larger than ourselves.
Visual Interest was proud to support this project, with Dixon Stein contributing to the lighting integration that enhances the installation’s dynamic presence and nighttime impact.
