Protected Promise

About the Project

“Protected Promise” is a striking 12' x 12' x 12' public art installation located at Bell Park outside the Cedar Park Public Library in Cedar Park, Texas. Sculptural Artist Dixie Friend Gay designed the stainless steel sculpture to reflect the wonder and curiosity inspired by native seedpods found in nature, translating organic forms into a bold, geometric structure.

Fabricated by Junoworks and commissioned by the City of Cedar Park, the sculpture transforms throughout the day as its reflective surfaces interact with changing light conditions. At night, integrated and programmed LED lighting animates the structure, casting intricate shadows and patterns into the surrounding landscape.

The lighting evolves in rhythm with natural cycles, creating a dynamic experience that shifts with time, seasons, and environmental conditions. The result is an installation that invites curiosity, exploration, and a deeper connection to nature within a public space.

Visual Interest was proud to support this project, with Dixon Stein contributing to the lighting integration that enhances the sculpture’s presence from day into night.
