SEE HOW DESIGNERS CREATED AN UNDERWATER ENVIRONMENT FOR A 21-FOOT-TALL FLAMINGO SCULPTURE INSIDE AN AIRPORT TERMINAL

Dixon Stein worked with Kevin Manning @ Juno Works to develop a lighting effect that would make the flamingo head and legs appear to be underwater. Multiple mockups were performed from the 2nd story meeting room in the Visual Interest office to determine the exact product and accessories needed to achieve the artist’s vision. Photometrics were completed in AGI32 at Visual Interest to determine exactly what output the fixtures needed to be. Juno Works ended up using 12 of the Rosco X-Effects HO static white fixtures recessed into the ceiling to create a smooth transition from Sea to Sky. The installation runs all year long in the Tampa Airport departures terminal and is open to the public!
